When to Go to Urgent Care

Donate blood and save lives.

Here are some of the times when you should go to urgent care:

  • If you have a minor illness or injury that requires immediate attention, but is not life-threatening. This could include things like a sore throat, earache, or minor cut.
  • If you need to be seen by a doctor but cannot get an appointment with your primary care physician. This could be because your doctor is not available, or because you need to be seen right away.
  • If you are experiencing a sudden change in your health that is concerning you. This could include things like a fever, rash, or shortness of breath.
  • If you are traveling and do not have access to your primary care physician. Urgent care centers can provide you with care while you are away from home.
  • If you are uninsured or underinsured. Urgent care centers are often more affordable than emergency rooms.

It is important to note that urgent care centers are not for emergencies. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, such as a heart attack or stroke, you should call 911 or go to the emergency room immediately.

If you are not sure whether you should go to urgent care or the emergency room, it is always best to err on the side of caution and call your doctor or 911.
